Award Honors Organizations for Exemplary Efforts in Recruiting, Employing, and Retaining Veterans

Atlanta, GA – November 1, 2024FiberLight, LLC, a fiber infrastructure provider with more than 20 years of experience designing, building, and operating mission-critical, high-bandwidth networks, today announced it has been honored with the 2024 HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award. Presented by the U.S. Department of Labor, the award recognizes FiberLight’s outstanding efforts in recruiting, employing, and retaining U.S. military veterans. The award honors companies that meet rigorous criteria in veteran hiring, retention, and leadership development.

The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Medallion Program implements the requirements of the HIRE Vets Act of 2017 (Public Law 115-31). The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is the only federal-level award that acknowledges exceptional achievement in veteran employment. By earning the 2024 Gold Medallion, FiberLight has demonstrated its commitment to providing meaningful career opportunities for veterans, underscoring their unique skill sets and leadership experience gained during military service.

“Veterans bring a wealth of invaluable skills to our team—leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure,” said Bill Major, CEO of FiberLight. “At FiberLight, we are proud to be recognized for our dedication to hiring veterans and providing them with fulfilling career paths. Veterans have served our country with honor, and we believe it’s our duty to create an environment where they can thrive professionally, contribute to our vision, and continue to make an impact.”

The criteria for the Gold Medallion Award include a veteran retention rate of at least 75% and leadership programs designed to support veterans in advancing within the company. FiberLight stands out not only for its recruitment of veterans but also for its commitment to ongoing career development and community engagement opportunities for its employees.

“We believe in fostering an environment where all of our employees, including our veterans, can continuously develop their skills and build meaningful careers,” said Becky Ospina, FiberLight’s Vice President of People and Culture. “Our team benefits from ongoing learning opportunities, community service programs, and recognition initiatives that help each person grow professionally and personally.”
